Welcome to EPE’22 ECCE Europe in Hannover (September 5-9, 2022)

Dear visitors, colleagues and friends,

After two EPE events in virtual format, we are all looking forward to an in-presence conference in 2022. We are confident that EPE’22 will be the first large scientific European event in Power Electronics and Applications where we can meet face to face after three years. And we are working enthusiastically to make it an interesting, successful and memorable event. Hannover is an almost ideal place for this: It is located in the centre of Europe and in the heart of Germany, on the crossroad of important international traffic routes from north to south and from east to west. Being home to the famous Hannover Messe, it also has a major international airport and a wide range of hotel accommodation. On top, it has touristic and historic attractions, featuring several places included in the World Heritage List in Hannover and nearby. Last but not least, Hannover is located in a region where many evolving applications of power electronics are growing remarkably. This includes renewable energies (especially wind power), a strong push towards E-mobility (with one of the most important industrial players nearby), and the integration of hydrogen into the energy system (which has been designated a key topic by our state government).

Based on this, together with the Local Scientific Committee, we have selected special “Focus Topics” to highlight important recent and future developments both in the underlying technology and in the application of power electronics.

As Technology Focus Topics, you will have the opportunity to a close look at:

  • Power Electronic Devices,
  • Integration and Adverse Effects of Wide-Bandgap Devices,
  • Batteries, due to their increasing impact on power electronic systems.

As Application Focus Topics, the following were selected:

  • Electrification of On- and Off-Road Utility Vehicles,
  • Electrification of Aircraft,
  • Electricity and Hydrogen Based Energy Systems.

In addition to the regular program made up of hundreds of submitted papers, we are going to highlight and discuss these topics in a number of formats like keynote presentations, invited lectures, and panel discussions. Besides, you will also find parts of the exhibition, tutorials as well as technical visits gathered around these Focus Topics.

We hope that you will find this an attractive occasion to meet with colleagues and friends. See you in Hannover in September 2022!
